PLACES TO EAT IN THE SURREY HILLS

There is a huge choice of quality restaurants and pubs in and around the Surrey Hills from fine dining, family and dog-friendly pubs, to tearooms and beach side cafés. So, whatever you fancy the area has it all! Here is a small selection of our favourites, some within walking distance and others a little further afield.

Forest Green

The Parrot is located in the beautiful village of Forest Green and sits on the Green overlooking the cricket ground. A very family-focused and dog-friendly pub, it offers a variety of freshly cooked dishes, children’s menu and a fine array of local ale and wines from around the world.

The Scarlett Arms is situated in the beautiful Surrey Hills in the village of Walliswood. They boast a large garden with children’s play area, ideal on a summer’s day. During the winter months enjoy cosy fires inside, with a great selection of food and drink. Your dogs and bicycles are welcome too

Rowhook

The Chequers Inn is a gastro pub featuring in the AA, Michelin and MasterChefs of Great Britain guides. It has an outstanding reputation for fine food, wines and local ales. The menu is simple yet delicious, offering a contemporary take on classic British and French-inspired cuisine, freshly-prepared.

The Abinger Hatch is a quintessential independent British country pub in the Surrey Hills; family-owned and family-run. Also dog-friendly throughout, you can eat and drink in the pub’s cosy restaurant, with two log-burning fires, or enjoy the extensive garden, with a patio seating area and Tipi.

Albury

The William IV, is set in the beautiful Surrey Hills between Albury and Shere. A free house, and a family and dog-friendly pub, they serve a selection of popular lagers, ciders and fantastic local ales. The food is sourced using only the best local ingredients and the daily specials change regularly.

Gomshall

A beautifully refurbished 11th Century Mill, the pub building forms a huge part of Gomshall’s history and has existed since the 11th century. Serving traditional pub fair and open for breakfast, the Mill provides high quality, affordable gastro food and is dog-friendly.

Shere

Kinghams Restaurant opened in 1993 and is in the beautiful village of Shere. An AA 2 Rosette restaurant dating from the 17th century, it has a wealth of character and charm. Kinghams ensure the best quality produce for the seasonal menu and has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Guildford

In ‘La Casita’ – Little House – offer an authentic flavour of the Mediterranean, from Spanish Tapas and Paella, to succulent fresh fish, meat and salad. It offers a relaxed, friendly and enjoyable eating experience. You can choose one or two or as many different dishes as you like, hot and cold.

Rooftop Restaurant

The Thai Terrace is a rooftop restaurant in the heart of Guildford, Surrey. The menu delivers a wide variety of Thai specialities, and the service is delivered with wonderful Thai charm. From the rooftop lounge you can enjoy your meal while the sky transforms into a captivating masterpiece.

Leith Hill and the surrounding Surrey Hills are home to a wonderful wealth of things to do and places to visit. From beautiful stately homes and their gardens, wonderful walks with breathtaking views, a large expanse of cycle routes and local towns and villages steeped in history.
