ABOUT SALVATORE
Salvatore Leone was born in the fairytale hilltop village of Erice, Sicily — a world away from the green rolling hills of England’s vineyards. Yet it was precisely that distance, that sense of the unknown, that drew him north.
Raised around vines and the annual thrum of harvest, winemaking was less a career choice and more a natural progression. What began in the sun-drenched vineyards of Sicily evolved into a global pursuit: 38 harvests across both hemispheres, seven countries, countless climates, grape varieties and philosophies. HE BRINGS HIS RESTLESS ENERGY TO ENGLISH SOIL
Along the way, he has worked with internationally recognised names including Pernod Ricard, Constellation Wines and Bodega Familia Zuccardi. Each chapter refined his technical precision and deepened his understanding of how place, people and philosophy shape a wine.
Advised early on to remain in Sicily, earn a degree and pursue stability, Salvatore instead chose curiosity. That decision has defined his career. For the past 13 years, he has brought that restless energy to English soil — a young wine region still finding its feet, unbound by tradition and full of possibility. It is this openness, this sense of shaping something still in evolution, that inspires him most.
As a consultant winemaker, Salvatore shapes each project with quiet conviction and careful thought. Drawing on more than two decades of international experience, he combines technical precision with an acquired natural instinct. Rather than imposing a signature style, he works in dialogue with vineyard and vintage, guiding each wine to express its origin with authenticity.
Though England is now home to his professional life, Sicily remains his anchor. He returns whenever he can — to his parents, his brother, and three much-loved cats. And if you can’t find him walking the rows of an English vineyard or both head and hose inside a press, you may well find him on a motorbike tracing the Sicilian coastline, wind in his hair, already planning the next harvest.
